What To Do With Your Trees During Spring?

Picture of what to do with your trees in spring
Spring is a time for rebirth. There are so many changes occurring this time of year that it is easy to lose sight of them all. Take a moment to review these tips to see if the trees around your house could use them. Spring is the time to:

Trim Palm Trees
The threat of winter hard freezes is over. Pruning your palm trees now will have them looking great during the summer when you are by your pool.

Remove Dead Branches And Suckers
Dead branches and suckers are sapping vital nutrition from your tree. Removing dead branches and suckers promotes growth and an overall healthier tree. Dead limbs are a safety hazard and is even more of one when the weather warms up and the little ones venture outdoors to play.

Fertilize Oak Trees, Pecan Trees, And Elm Trees
Big trees need the right nutrition to be healthy. Replacing thousands of leaves lost during fall is taxing. Fertilization will keep your tree in better shape while extending its life.

Arborist Administered Insecticide Tree Injections
Caterpillar season is coming soon! Caterpillars range from an annoyance to a real tree damage dealer. Tree injections done by a certified arborist can keep these pests away.

Thank you so much for advising to prune your palm trees in the spring so that they look good in the summer when you're swimming in your pool and to fertilize elm trees to extend their lives. My husband and I just moved to Naples, FL and haven't ever taken care of palm trees before. I'll try to find a tree service near us to tend them for us.

Trees begin to grow again in the spring. In the spring, the days grow longer, animals return to feed and pollinate local plants and people begin to work in the garden again.

I didn't know that dead branches are sapping vital nutrition from your tree. Honestly, I thought those branches just lost all feeling and fall off eventually. I'll be sure to have someone come service my trees to make sure they are getting the nutrition they need.

I recently started a company offering tree service and removal in Colorado and I love what you've written here. If every client would read this BEFORE they require emergency services, tree care would be so much easier for the pros, to say the least.

Tree care is by no means the most exciting topic to write about, and it's not as fun as being out there, so thanks for taking the time on this!

Anyway, thanks again for sharing the tips... Cheers from www.protreeservicecolorado.com!

You made a good point when you shared that it is great to remove dead branches and suckers in order to promote growth and an overall healthier tree. My uncle just mentioned the other day that he is worried about the trees in his yard that do not look as healthy as how they used early this year. I will suggest to him hiring a reliable service that can help remove any dead branches so they will look better.

I didn't know that dead branches suck the vitals from your trees. I need to get an oak tree cut down. I'll have to get a company to do it who is licensed in the state.

Cut off unwanted branches and growth, and get rid of dead plant material. For your own safety, you may also want to cut off the branches that come into contact with structures such as garden sheds or patios. As for fruit trees, it is recommended to prune them in late winter or early spring.

I want to make sure that I take good care of the trees on my landscape. It makes sense that I would want to keep my trees properly fertilized! It might be a good idea for me to get an arborist to see if they can help me out with this.

It got me when you said that dead branches can be a safety hazard, especially when we have kids that play outside. In that case, we need to hire tree services to trim the ones in the backyard if I want to ensure the safety of my kids. I should ask around this weekend as well if we might need this kind of service even this fall, because it's the firs time we have a backyard rich with plants.
